ISS, Hubble and a plane together near Orion

Hi all,

On Friday evening there was a mag -1 International Space Station pass and a mag 1.6 Hubble Space Telescope pass that were both visible together in the sky. I had hoped to be able to stack lots of exposures to get the path of both objects near Orion, but clouds made that difficult. Still I managed to stack some images to get the two together, and a plane flew through the field as well. A busy patch of sky!

Cheers,
Stephen

Great capture Stephen. Shame about the cloud although it does add to the character of this shot. Well Done.
Cheers,
Duncan

It passed straight overhead on Friday evening Jason, and flared to perhaps -1 when near the zenith. In fact that flare was the brightest I've seen the HST. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera on it at the time.

Cheers,
Stephen

Absolutely astounding photo. For the first time I can see how dim Hubble really is.

A top effort Stephen,

A well planned and executed project, a real credit to you and great example to others of the sort of things that can be achieved with a DSLR.

Regards
Trevor

Thanks very much Trevor! It's rare to get 2 satellites of interest in the same patch of sky at the same time, so it was good to capture it. Would have been even better if there had been a bright Iridium flare as well!

Cheers,
Stephen
