Moon 26th Feb with some closeup

Well another really hot night with the DSLR, 26th weather 42 deg and the scope was in my garage getting really hot, so i am not expecting too much. There has been a little registax touch on these image but overall not majorly altered.

RAW files gave me a lot of abilty to manipulate things lik white balance but as I am still learning I would apprreciate some feedback.

Something of interest though about halfway through closeups I decide to test colimination through the barlow and it is way off. I will need a barlow coliminator to take any more closeups to get better focus along with motorised mount.

Still i enjoyed the whole episode and definately as i progress feels Astroimaging will be the way to go in the future for me.

First image Full shot - 1/800 @ ISO200, the wonders of 12" to get high speed without motion blur.

Second and other closeups 1/325 @ ISO1600, all of the images had RAW file manipulated extensively regarding noise reduction as the noise levels were horendous. But blurry though and depth of field a bit limited. I believe this has something to do with the scope being F5 and may get a better DOF with a F7 or above. Hope someone can shed some light on this though just in case I am wrong.

Took heaps of closeups not enough in a single post will add some more later as i process them.

Thanks for looking.

They're nice images Malcolm. I do prefer the 1st one. As single frames they're a little noisy, and perhaps focus is a tad off or maybe just seeing affected.

To go to the next level now you could try taking multiple images and start stacking.

Thanks Mike,

I realise that are out of focus but I believe it may be a number of factors. The Noise definately from using ISO1600 that is because of the need for higher shutter speed to reduce motion blur. Without tracking it is difficult to acheive clear focus. Also the barlow reduces light level and the maybe an issue with the particular one I have. 5-element 3 x barlow. I suppose it could be just bad seeing and heat.

Multiple images I will look into at my next project maybe next weekend but RAW imaging takes up so much memory, I need a bigger computer, possibly a new laptop.
