I watched it for the first time tonight.
It was quite enjoyable with a lot of potential for some good episodes. I'll definitely have this one on the "to watch" list.
Cheers

Yep, quite enjoyed it ..... couple of characters a tad annoying (eg Ely, some of the soldiers) but hopefully will grow on me ..... bring on next week.
Was a bit over the other Stargates, so time for something new ..... tho did watch 3 episodes of the original Stargate .... in German .... 2 weeks ago in Munich ..... fun

Hmmmmnnn,
Not so sure. A bit too much like BSG - too serous, almost pompous I thought. Doesn't have that vaguely self-depricating,make-it-up-as-you-go- along feel of SG1 or SGA.
But... To each their own.
At least it doesn't involves cops, villains, medicos or angst-ridden tweens.

Hey, hey! Don't knock it until you've watched The Wire. Arguably the greatest TV show ever created.

So, what was SGU like compared to SG1/SGA ?
SG1 i will always have a special place in my collection for.
SGA felt like ST:TNGen.
I watched an episode of SGU on Fox a few weeks ago, and I found myself saying, WTF, I just couldnt get into it.

Too early to tell yet ...perhaps a few more of the annoying characters will get killed off. I will certainly keep watching, as did enjoy it overall.
I agree - SG1 was the best

I think all the series have been good in their own way, this one will follow that path.
Still love the original movie that kicked it all off though.
Cheers

I'm up to Episode 10 and this is where something interesting actually happens
so it does get better as the show progresses but very slowly
watched 10 seasons of SG1 and 2 telemovies plus the original movie and 5 seasons of SGA
personally so far Stargate Atlantis has been my favourite

In the same boat here. Ep 10 was a cliffhanger for when it resumes in 2010
ep 9 just confused me.
As for is it better, I reckon sg1 till season 7 was the best and all of Atlantis
will sgu exceed the originals. Only time will tell till s2 in sep 2010 going in the fashion of sg and their end of season cliffhangers

Yeah i have seen until the mid season break, and its much more of a slow grower. But i just love that its not following the done and done format, makes you think that bit more and isn't as black and white.

Watched it last night....missed the first few minutes as they must have started early.
I would have to say at the moment, I would describe it in one word as "slow". Nothing has happened so far but they try to up the pace by making dozens of jumps from one character, who may say two words, then to another who may say one word and back again. It may be "arty", but in my opinion this sort of cutting is so overdone these days....they need to invest in a tripod too!
I will continue to watch it though to see how it evolves. Meanwhile I am now half way through series 8 of SG1 .

Not sure about the rest of you.
But one of the best episodes for me in SG1 was when they first unveiled the Promethius.
I was like "Yeah!!!! "
Was like a pivotal moment in the storyline for me.

lol we said it was a slow builder... but give it a bit more time. imo its laying the ground work so it can blast us away rather than build the characters slowly over time.
Welll time will tell, but i think it has great possibilities.
