Uranus - Sept. 16th

Before breaking down for the night, I swung my scope over to where Uranus was, about 45 degrees above the horizon. I didn't expect to be able to pick it up, but after pumping the gain, exposure, and black-point way up, there it was. I had to process the devil out of it to pull the planet out of the fuzzy frames.

Nice work Kirk. The colours make it look more like the NASA Neptune images I have seen; that is, more blue than green.

Cheers

Hi Kirk

Nice capture - these distant planets are always good to capture regardless of the challenge. I wish there were more images posted - I guess they are not overly targeted as they will only ever be little blue or green balls - but great little balls!
Thanks for sharing!

Nice work Captain James T!

Although I do tend to agree with Dennis, the colour of the planet tends to suggest that you may have captured yourself a fancy Neptune instead of Uranus which looks more mediterranean green than that blue.

Either way, very nice work.

p.s. sorry for that crappy joke.

Cheers

I've been called "Captain" my entire life, although I will answer to all sorts of things.

I'm sure it's Uranus, as my goto is pretty accurate. Plus, I'm not sure my camera would pick up anything as faint as Neptune. But I do struggle with correct color from my webcam. I did adjust the hue and saturation a bit in Photoshop on this image and should have paid more attention to the hue.

Thanks for posts and tips!
