CatsPaw with FSQ106ED and QHY8

Well another lovely night in paradise. Last night I imaged the Cats Paw Nebula NGC 6334.
4 hrs of exposure with reasonable seeing and I was surprised at the amount of nebulosity in the area. I think the overall appearance would improve with a few hours of Ha being added to the RGB but didn't get time last night. It may happen during the next bright moon phase.
I worked a bit harder on the focus for this one but with the seeing what it was the best FWHM I could achieve was 5.13. Not the best but pretty good for this area. Always hard when surrounded by big mountains and the thermal gradients they produce.

24 X 10 min exposures

Doug both the nebs in this region are almost purely HA as the associated Hb has been attenuated by dust. When single H atoms are excited they emit HA and Hb. The ratio is about 0.30 Hb to HA. Your image is showing hints of the dust that does this attenuation..

Your image is very nice. But I bet in about a years time you will be doing far better.

Thanks Guys. Yes this scope is realy something else. I cant wait to get the camera attachments for the reducer which will widen the field and drop the scope to F 3.4. Should be interesting.

A different region that because there is very little blue from Hb and lots of redening from dust too

Thanks Mike, My initial stak looked very much like a vignetting problem but with a bit of further investigation I realised it was galactic dust. This process removed much of the dust which initially showed up something like your galactic cloud in CentaurusA but with a reddish tint.
It confused me quite due to the possible vignetting with a QHY8 and Tak FSQ seemed almost impossible. At least I hadn't noticed it before on any other images. Must add some Ha. Working on some Ha for 6188 tonight.

Apologies -- I'm still catching up on old threads.

Another great image. All the faint red stuff around everywhere. Must be quite an extended object!

Looking forward to what you can do with the hydrogen alpha added to it (apologies if you've already imaged and posted it -- I'll get through these threads soon).
