See your Eta and raiise you one.

Those who have been kind enough to give me a pat on the back for my first foray into this Forum with a Lagoon image have only themselves to thank. Eta is eqasy and a good place to start. So I did. And this is the result. It is 30 x 2 min subs through a 200mm GSO Newtonian, guided PHD/DSI and recorded on a 1000D at 1600ISA with a MultiPurpose COma Corrector. Stacked in DSS and curved etc in PS/CS2.
cheers
Peter

Another Vote for Leons words for me.

Looking very good. Guiding and focus look pretty good.

Well done. Keep them coming.

You're definitely on your way Peter.
Looking forward to the Grand Opening of your observatory 27th. We can have an Eta showdown.

Hi Frank. I'm using an EQ6 but it is still not well aligned so PHD has a lot of compensating to do. This hobby is a journey of a million microsteps and evry one takes time. That's probably why there is so much satisfaction when you reach new levels.

I would recommend longer subs and lower ISO. I find that data signal is more and noise a lot less. The image looks pretty good though and maybe could do with slightly better focus.

For your first attempt this is an outstanding result. Attention to the finer detail will provide leaps in quality.

Paul and other commentators,
I've tried to follow your suggestions last night. Although we had moon until about 10.00 p.m., the night was clear enough to try some imaging. These 2 images are imaged at 5 min subs for M20 and 8 mins for M16 - both at 800 ISO. I spent a bucketload of time on focus before shooting also.

I hope you can see improvement here but even if you can't, I'd be grateful for any other observations you can make. I aappreciate these are small JPEGS - I haven't figured out how to set up one of those online photo albums - one step at a time.

PETER
