Saturn from Murrumbateman, 30th March 2009

Seeing last night was reasonable for a while around 11pm, I also tried for Jupiter 6 hours later but by then the cold front had arrived and the seeing had departed :-(

I believe there is a small white storm showing in this Saturn image.

regards, Bird

Very nice image Bird,
Love the colours, has a very natural look about it and definitely some cloud structure present. The edge of the rings are very well defined, sharp as.

Wondering about the curved line on the disk just in from the right hand edge, is this maybe a tad to much processing, applet or deconvolution, due to the seeing.

Well done as usual.
Regards
Trevor

Thanks Trevor. That edge has been there in all my images for the last year or so, I've tried to track down the cause but so far no luck. It's not a processing artifact as it's there even with a simple stack in registax. I'm starting to wonder about internal reflections or something.

cheers, Bird

Nice sharp detail in the rings there.
You have captured it very nicely.

Saturn was the first planet I saw when I was just a "wee lad" when I got my first scope, and it holds a special place in my memory.
This image is beautiful.

Well done.

Geoffro.
