Deepsky instrument 10inch RC First.

This is my first post with my new telescope. I have had crappy weather here ever since I got it. Bad seeing and hot, I think that is worst then clouds. Anyway I'm so far very happy with the telescope. I've got the third scope that Deepsky instruments have made. I must say a Tak collimation scope and CCDinspector take all the fun out of collimation. The field is flat at 17% and the alignment is within 2 arc seconds.

Anyway here is a image of the area around NGC3293. The exposure was LRGB 90 minutes and 12 minutes at 3 times bin. I’ve also cropped out close ups of areas of interest.

Nice images, Ken

It's a testament to the quality of the RC optics to see stars so crisp right across the FoV. Just wondering about that greenish tinge to the right in the first pic. Your tracking may need an eensy-weensy adjustment... in the close ups the stars look ever so slightly egg shaped. It's more noticeable on the dimmer stars than the bright ones, but when you look at the first pic (large FoV) you don't notice it at all.

Not having followed the progress of your purchase, could you tell me which RC scope you purchased?

These images look rather good, slight guiding errors aside. I really like them.

I am research an intermediate scope for my close up work and would like something like a 10" scope.

Hi Renormalised, yes it is a bit green, tend to play with my images over a few days. Have fixed.
thats the trouble with colour balance you can fiddle. The guiding wasn't the best but I think it's mainly do to the aligning for the stack. I'm new at stacking unbinned and binned images. They need a bit more cleaning up. There is some colour blotching as well, will have to work out where that comes from.

I have a feeling most of that blotchiness is noise. It's rather course and pixelly, and it's playing a bit of havoc with your colour balance. Although with the weather we've been having, it's no wonder!!!. It actually looks like you have a bit of noise running right through the piccie. Makes the final result even more remarkable with testimony to the scope's optics.

The close up crop of the nebulosity has exquisite detail in the finer edges... Amazing...

I contacted Star Instruments recently when I was considering building an RC and they pointed me to the Deep Sky Instruments page.. They said that price to performance these scopes are among the best on the market.. After seeing the detail in these.. I dont disagree..

Well done Ken, I look forward to some Narrowband false colour shots from this rig!
