Thumbs up Dr. Strangelove - ABC1 tonight Sun 11:55pm

ABC1 Australia Sunday 18-Jan-09 11:55pm to 1:25am.

For those IceInSpacers too young to have ever seen it,
ABC1 is airing tonight Stanley Kubrick's 1964 dark comedy classic,
"Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb".

Synopsis -
In order to thwart what he believes is an international communist conspiracy
to sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids through fluoridation of water,
General Ripper issues "Wing Attack Plan R" to his command of nuclear-armed B-52
bombers to attack the Soviet Union.

Unless the CRM-114 Discriminator units on-board the aircraft can receive
an authenticated recall code, the fate of the entire world hangs in the balance.

As good as comedy and movie making gets. Highly recommended.

Yes!!
An absolute classic.
Just a pity that it's on so late though.
The tv card I have installed on my computer can allegedly record shows, but I've never bothered learning how to use it.
Looks like it's time to learn.

Yep. It's one of the films included in the Kubrick video box set, which I was very happy to receive as a birthday present a few years ago.

A great film indeed, from a wonderful director.

Peter Sellers at his best!

General Jack D Ripper was modelled on the real life General Curtis LeMay...LeMay was a decorated nutter!

Yes Ron it's all sorted. I dumped something off my hard drive to make enough room so it's set up to record for you.

I'll run a copy off for you too Phil and send it up with the other stuff this week.

Just got home a little while ago and checked the make sure it recorded ok before I grab some sleep - pleased to report that it's all good.

I'll trim the "before and after" bits from the recording later oday/tonight before dropping it onto some DVD's.
