Thumbs up The Planets in 2008 - A Pictorial Review

Hi all

For the past 3 years, I’ve been doing a pictorial review of the planets - making a composite image of my best planetary images taken during that calendar year. You can see the old composites here: 2005, 2006, 2007 (click on the image to see the full size).

For 2008, I didn’t think I’d be able to keep up the tradition - in my memory, I’d only captured images of Jupiter and only one of Saturn. However yesterday when looking through my 2008 data, I found more than I expected, so it has been possible, but only just, to make a 2008 pictorial review of the planets.

Please click the link below to read more and see the 2008 composite.

The Planets in 2008 - A Pictorial Review

Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

Greeting Mike,

All up to your usual high standard.

It will be interesting to see which of your Jupiter images receives the most comment. Obviously images that feature the GRS will be popular but for me the stand out is the image from 30/05/08 at 17:05, without the GRS.

I love the crisp, fine detail in that image, I think it is exceptional.

The image of Saturn is also very nice, heaps of detail and the colours look great. What strikes me about this image is, how very well defined the crepe ring is, top stuff.

Regards
Trevor

Mike,

Every one of those is absolutely fantastic!

You should seriously get them all printed and framed. They'd look awesome hung up on a wall beside each other.

Great stuff!

Regards,
Humayun

Wow! Great compilation Mike,

Aren't you talking to Uranus and Neptune any more? Did they forget to buy you a birthday present? Pluto, I can understand, coz he NEVER rings, always comes home with some floozy and THEN you find out that he GOT DEMOTED at work! Good riddance I say, he's never in the family pictures anyway.

Pity about Uranus and Neptune though, still, can't have everything.

Nice family snaps, thanks for posting!

Cheers

Chris

Very nice collection of images Mike.

Its amazing how images have improved over those years, and hard to emagine them improving still more in the next few years; but I guess they will.
