I think it or me is getting better.
20 X 3 min images taken and stacked using Nebulosity.
Image was cropped a little as I opened the camera to clear some dust off the CCD and it started to ice up along the edge.
The image is clear, well focused, and shows great detail. Much better Doug.
Your shots are now showing a good background balance.
I know people will say you burnt the core, but to start mucking about with the techniques to overcome this will just overload your mind.
What gain and offset are you using ?.
As for opening the camera while the TEC was still active, DOH !.
Unplug the power to the TEC and wait a couple of minutes before opening the chamber...
ooooh ouch, i think gama posted in the q8 vs 40d dont open it while its on(cooled)
its a better shot , as previously stated its burnt in the core, you need to mask in a lower timed exposure to fix that -- thats how i did it, youll be suprised how short you need for the core to pick up the detail.
you are going to have to start using flats, the corners are dark (vignetting) its then easily remidied.
in the upper left theres a line of bright blue pixels, you might have a hot pixel issue..... bayer matrix spreads it around.... for this a dark frame will help.
keep posting hagar, i want to see more q8 shots and their owners opinions,

Did you use any dark frames bias etc ?.
Theo.
Gain = 12% Offset = 130.
I turned it all off but must have let too much moist air in at the time.
