76mm copyscope OTA

I have a homemade 76mm f/5 copyscope made from a Fujinon copier lens. Len appears fully coated (possibly multicoated) and is good for wide field use under dark skies. The optical tube assembly comes with a brand new GSO mirror star diagonal 1.25" (itself worth $50 new plus postage!). This copyscope is unique as it does not use a drainpipe pull and push focuser rather it comes with an Edmund Scientific rack and pinion focuser. I can include a large hose clamp and a homemade mounting plate (see piccy).

The OTA itself with the R&P focuser fully retracted is approximately 12" long and weights about 1.5kg. I was looking at getting about $65 for this and preferebly via pickup (postage would cost at least $15 by regular mail). Does not come with eyepieces but if you want I can include the Orion 20mm Expanse (66 degree FOV) for an extra $40.

This will make a good grab and go scope on a photo tripod or a large finder for a big dob and you can be sure the quality is going to be better than those plastic e b** 80mm f/5 scopes. Prices are negotiable so do let me know if you are interested and we can work something out.

Hey Rob,

I got this off a yank actually early last year. This was to be my observing scope back home at my parents and for my dad as a spotter. Too bad the weather here in Malaysia is cloudy most of the time if not hazy and light polluted. As a result the 15x70's get more use. So I thought I see if I can sell it off to generate some money for one of them Panoptics, Radians or Naglers. The mouting rings, diagonal holder and the mouting plate (with a nut soldered onto a plate) was done by me

hmm... looks good, but I have over spent on other things of late. the FL is prolly just a tad short for my liking tho... I'll think about it, but for now it'd be a no (or mission control will be on my back)

Hey Guys,

I put it up on e-b** as well. I have decided to bring the price down to $55 instead of $65 seeing that there are no takers (price can be negotiated still). Also I will throw in the ep for an extra $35 not $40 but seeing that most of you guys already own heaps of ep's, that may be redundant

Hi Darren, can that copy scope come to focus without the diagonal?
I,m thinking with a 2.5x barlow and no diagonal that it would make a nice guide scope.

I'm not sure David. I have never tried that and did not bring my 1.25" ep's with me (I am currently back home in Malaysia for family matters). And it is pretty heavy at about 1.5kg. But if you want I can bring it back and you can give it a test run

Hi Darren ,sorry didn't know you where back over there, My 4" weighs 3kg so 1.5 for the 76mm is light,Bring it back with you anyway and I can give it a try.
