Meade LX200 OTA Removal

Hello all,

This is my first post here. I have a Meade LX200 Classic 10" and the computer died. I have since removed the OTA from the mount and put it onto a Skywatcher EQ6 Pro mount.

I have a question for those who have removed the OTA from an LX200 before and that is with the resulting holes on the sides of the scope tube, is there any problem with filling the holes with the screws that we originally in place? Will the extra length of the screws move into the optical path of the scope and cause and problems? Lastly will that extra length in the screws cause any problems with the moving parts of the scope?

I want to fill the holes in with something as I don't want dirt and dust to get into the scope.

Not to be thinking overly laterally, but why not just tape over them? Or cut down the screws?

Screws, tape, rubber grommets would all be ok. You can see if the screws will interfere with the main mirror by looking through the corrector - as long as they clear the edge by a couple of millimeters there's no problem.

I used sticky tape on a de-forked meade 8", putting a small piece of tape over the hole in reverse so as not to expose the scope innards to adhesive.

Thanks for your replies. I was thinking of tape casstony and turbo but I wasn't sure about the adhesive as casstony said. I will have a look to see if the screws can be seen through the corrector plate.
