Two from Last night With Tak.

Hi Guys,

Yesterday I posted these images taken through the Canon 300mm F/2.8, so last night i did the very same ones through the Takahashi 106 for some comparison.

Eta Carinea was pretty low at the time so I expect something better later in the year.

Please check them out and make any comments, god or bad, don't be afraid, I don't get offended easily, need to learn this stuff.

Anyway M42 consisted of 15 images @ 50 seconds each @ 400 ISO, taken through the Tak 106, and 5D, on G11 and guided with Philips Toucam, flat fielded, and dark subtracted, processed in Image plus, for some Contrast and Brightness, and Digital Development only.

Eta Carinea was processed the same but had 9 exposures at 2 minutes each at 400 ISO, through same equipment.

Both are un-cropped wide fields except the obvious third image of M42.

Please let me know what you think.

Leon

Neither seems to suffer the same vignetting that we discussed earlier Leon. More exposure needed perhaps. Looks nice though. I reckon stick with the Tak.

Gary, Yes the exposure could have been longer, but of coarse the Tarp burns out, once i get to master this layering business things maybe different.

I agree the Tak is the way to go here, although the 300mm is a great lens, the Tak seems to get just that bit of extra length.

A bit more experimenting need here I think.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks Guys, for your comments, Doug , that is the beauty of the Tak, lovely flat field, and right to the edge, you might be getting that lens sooner than you think. Just kidding Doug, not yet, when I snuff it, it is yours.

...After this post I've set my sights on the Tak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though leon the lack of any degradation of image quality from the original to the crop is astounding...go the Tak! In fact, the crop looks better!!!!!!!!
Look forward to many more more Tak images before you snuf it leon!!!!!
Cheers mate!
Doug

ps...I'm sure the G11 plays its part too!!
hey leon G "11" - spooky
