This is a handbuilt iStar 127mm F12 R30 Achro Refractor. The iStar cell is competely adjustable and prefectly collimated in the open Truss Tube, terminating in a Moonlight focuser. The iStar cell is made of solid aluminium and carries two element R30 glass ( which reduces CA). Being an f12 there is very little CA observable, and a simple CA filter can remove any residual CA. This scope is a copy of the iStar TCR open Truss Tube scope manufactured by iStar about ten years ago. The build of this scope was featured in a thread on IIS. The tube is fully baffled at each station, and constructed of high boat grade epoxy system adhesives.
Being a long Achro type refector it does require a significant mount ( I have used a Celestron CGX, which is a good match).. Focal length is 1524mm and this is a visual only scope. It is a great performer on planets and double and triple stars. I am attaching photos below. I am only selling this scope as it is too much for me to handle now (in my late 70s). Looking for a good home for it. Price is a bargain at just $900, well below the iStar optical cell and Moonlight cost, if you don't believe me try to source them).
