Lightning Rods

I need to put one in ... does anyone have any experience with these things?
OR able to recomend a supplier?

When I had my national medium sized electrical engineering and contracting business , we use to offer our industrial and commercial clients a full suite of lighting protection systems including lightning rod down conductor systems.
The company we used was Ericore
They were excellent and could offer solutions nationwide
Don’t know if they are still around, and if they are , they may have a subcontractor who services northern NSW
I definitely wouldn’t recommend a DIY lightning protection system. Theres a lot of engineering that goes into a site specific designed lightning protection system ( whether big or small )

Hey Alex when I read Lightning Rods i thought immediately your were exploring the need for a huge metal rod near your dam to capture lightning strikes

It seems i was wrong. have a great day

Just recently some electrical technicians installed a new earthing point for a power pole outside our place. They had to drill several metres down to reach a suitable impedance area in the soil. Seems there is a lot to it.

Well yes that's it Leon ... electricity sortta acts like water so there must be a way

Actually ..you will remember when I was going to turn that shipping container shed/ shack into my residence and observatory...well my daughter turned it into something absolutely jaw dropping and I want to lightning proof it for her...

Well Alex that sounds like an excellent idea, I suppose those metal boxes could ignite the odd strike.

There have been strikes both at our main house and at the neighbours ( at same elevation) so I consider the threat of a future strike probable.
