Thanks Annette, I do know what you mean, and actually the software that I lost enabling me to do that with the Canon 5D has been re-installed from the web, so all is good again so i probably wont need one after all.
I use the Lexar Pro dual slot reader. Never had a problem, just does its job, unlike all the cheap crappy Chinese readers I end up buying or getting with memory cards (I test memory cards immediately to ensure they aren't faked sizes) so when i get a new type of memory card I usually grab a reader or two to start me off. The Lexar has proven reliable for me, not a single issue with it. I also use TeraCopy (as an alternative to Windows copy) and when I copy/move files from a memory card its to a "Source Images" location on my NAS and TeraCopy does a verify for me to ensure the files copied fine and can be read fine from my NAS so if either memory card or NAS starts to fail Teracopy will catch this for me (nothing yet, I only use top Sandisk cards for my gear and never had issues with any except slack "lock" mechanisms that lock the memory from being written to when inserted in one of my cameras).
No doubt there are other great card readers besides the Lexar Pro but I've no reason to try any others anymore.
promise, what would be a good brand/model for a card reader device to connect tho the PC.
