Has anyone made bartels or Ek's box or similar

Because the tips of the pins are flash with board, you may have open connection.
When pressing pins in the pcb with vice, you have to place two pieces of wood or something similar as support from other side of the pcb, so that the pins can slide in the board deeper.

Thanks Bojan, youve been a great help. Could you tell me what the corrct orientation of the max232 and pic is on the board? And with the last pin on the right hand side, second row broken, do you i need a new one? Currently the pin goes nowhere so im assuming its ok.

You will find a semi circle on the top of the chip hold it facing up and toward and pin 1 will be on the left.

Guys I'm very happy to say that my box is working, encoders and all. Just a matter of fitting it into a project box now. Mounting it to my dob is easy as the previous owner generously gave his Argo navis mounts with the scope.
