Eta Carina - ED80 - 13/1/06

Eta Carina by moonlight.

It seems to be the way at the moment. Some of the best seeing I've had at home for a long time (excluding Ron' the other week) and of course the moon's blasting everything into the back ground. So I decided to give EC another go.

9X180 sec. ISO800 RAW, ED80 unguided. Converted to TIFF, calibrated, aligned and stacked in ImagesPlus, curves, levels, cropped and reduced for posting in photoshop.

That is an excellent image Paul. Nicely composed, sharply focused and very well processed. I was bowled over by the amount of red visible, given that you have the unmodified Canon - wow!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks guys.

It's a hard call sometimes Dennis, trying to work out how far to take the red. There's nothing added, just selective channel stretching. Guess it's just personal preferrence.

That G11 is certainly paying dividends.

That is an excellent shot under the moonlight. Plenty of depth and colour too. Very well captured and processed.

Who needs a modfied camera?
Cheers

I have a g11 and just wished I could use it....one day these clouds will go away....please.

Brisbane has been weird lately...most of the day its cloud free then as soon as the sun goes down..over the clouds come...grrr

I still blame Robert with his new Televue.
