I have just finished off the pdf registration form and put it on the website for those who don't trust the new fandangled internet thingy. If people want to print a few copies to distribute at club meetings and gatherings, just grab it from the 'site.

Cheers
Tony

Bummer Phil.

Now I'll either have to eat your piece for you or post it down. Now which one

Phil that's a damn shame, would have been great to see you and HRH up here again. Maybe you can organise a Tasmanian Star Party of some sort, timed to coincide with some spectacular Auroral displays, and we'll come down to visit you instead next year!

In the meantime however we shall mark your absence at Astrofest by having a ceremonial burning (not too burnt though) of your 2 serves of the sticky date pudding to commiserate, followed by which we'll smother them liberally in caramel sauce, ice cream and cream - nothing is too good for you and Liz after all!!

Finally we'll have a special Honour Guard dispose of the 2 scrumptious pudding servings while suitably ceremonial music plays in the background.

Paul ... obviously I'll volunteer to assist with all of this.

We were really looking forward to the trip up, for us it's an opportunity to visit friends and relatives on the way and enjoy some warm weather and good company, but it's no real problem as we'll be up in November anyway.

The stork is delivering grandchild #3 to Brisvegas mid November so we'll try to make the pilgrimage to Ron's place on the new moon.

Fuel Costs

Quote:
"But fuel is going to kill me this year - originally thought it was going to be about 1.40 at the beginning of the year, now it is 1.70 a litre!!!"
On the basis of a round trip of about 1600km, and with a consumption of say 10 lit/100km, you will use some 160 litres. At 30 cts over your budget of $1.40, that's going to cost you an extra $48. Bring some jerrycans, and with the lower price of fuel in Queensland, you'll almost be saving money.

Shame about Astrofest Phil but hopefully you'll drop in on your way up in November, the wine should be palatable by then........

Hope to be at this years Astrofest myself, if I can get my transport back in good order, we have had some very nice nights here in the south east, where I am anyway and expect it to be quite clear for the Astrofest, fingers crossed.

I've already asked Tony and Anne-Louise to spray paint you an area for your marque

I'll see what I can do on the day I get there.

Newsflash - -- -- -- - -- -- -
Paul

After some discussion with Alan and myself , all we are bringing are the eq6 and the heq5pro, ed80, orion 80 short tube refractor, the 127APO, and two toilets tents.

No marquee or trailer, losmandy or vixen r200SS ----> they are all bulky (but very nice to have items

We decided this to save weight and fuel and rationalise the trip. There will be a heap of scopes to look at and this year I might even venture over and get Ron to show me the skies…..in the dark zone……..where imagers fear to tread…………

No Trailer!!!!!

Oh! OK, I see. You are going to buy what you need when you get here. Good move. I'm sure Tania won't notice that you left without a trailer but arrived home with one full.

Or are you going to have a Striker type auction at the end of the Astrofest. Smart idea.

Hey this is not such a bad idea. You could rent out a small garage or shed to store it and then you wouldn't have to bring gear up each astrofest.
