ED127 Focuser

As those who have bought the ED127 Scope from North Group know the focuser leaves a little to be desired. I have not been game enough to leave the scope alone while trying my hand at long exposure photography. I was waiting until tax time to buy a Moonlite focuser.
I have met someone over the internet that was willing to have a look at my original focuser so sent the focuser to him to see what he could do. What did I have to lose? He has stripped it regreased it realigned/retensioned all the internals and added 2 extra screws on the draw tube to help secure the camera etc.
All I can say is WOW what a difference, the focus adjustment is so much more positive than it was before the camera seems alot more secure and the focus no longer tries to adjust itself, especially when the scope is pointing straight up .
I will try it tonight to see how it goes and let you all know.

Adrian
PS should have mentioned he has modified a few of these and have them on his Vixen Scope

Well I used the ED127 for the first time in yonks last night with the "new super improved" focuser. What a difference its made. I wont be ordering a new focuser now I believe the mods/improvements made have been well worth the costs involved ($30 for post both ways and 1/2 doz of his favourite brew) The camera is now securely held, however I still use a tether to stop accidental dropping of the 350D, just in case.
Spent the night, well until 11ish, checking it out and have taken 300 photos of Jupiter (of different exposure and ISO settings) and about 10 of the moon. All I gotta do now is process them to see if they are any good. Had a quick go with Registrax to stack 10 frames and I can see banding on Jupiter but the picture is so damn small when I try to increase the size it starts to pixelate badly. Do I need to use a Barlow in the setup to increase the size of the picture?

I, too, would like to learn what you think of the ED127.

Thank you.
