Moon

Last night I finally got to try out my lunar/planetary imaging set-up for the first time.I finally accumulated all the bits and pieces a few weeks ago, but the weather has stopped me from having a go with it.
This image was taken at dusk, and the sky was still quite light. By the time it was dark, the clouds were rolling in again!
This is my first attempt at digital imaging,so all constructive criticism is welcome.
NG 102mm apo refractor, QHY IMG132E camera, 5 images stacked in Registax 6, processed in Canon Digital Photo Professional.

Great shot Larry, well done. I love the tones and contrasts. You must be very pleased with your first attempt!

Nice shot.

It really looks like it's taken from, say, an approaching Apollo craft.

You and Eric will be able to compare notes.

Looks like a setup with a lot of potential. I can only wish for images that sharp. My setup is still afocal.

Thanks RG, Eric, Stu, Steve and Brian!
Yes Brian, I am very happy with the scope-it seems to be tack-sharp.

Hey that's a great first image for the new setup Laurie.

I can't fault your choice of subject either -- I always love looking at the Imbrium region.

Given the opportunity to get a few more images in the stack will allow more control in the Registax wavelets sharpening. I've found around 30 images gives good scope for sharpening without getting artifacts.

Keep 'em coming.
