logitech ccd terrible quality???

Hi, I bought a Logitech cheap webcam but HD, 720p, and extracted the CCD chip, mounted it on plastic and popped it in my scope. Planning to just take a few photos of the moon...
Now the stills I have taken are really terrible in resolution...I did something like this before and had perfectly adequate resolution, although the chip may have been marginally better. I have attached a photo (it was cloudy so it is not of the sky) to illustrate how visible the pixels are. I can't find anything in the software to change the resolution. Is it just a really, really bad camera??

Here is a quick cam snap of the moon at 640 x 480. Took the lens off and taped a 35mm film canister to the end (fits nicely in a 1.25 eyepiece holder). Not he best setup but almost free. Scope was a 102mm f7 acro. Software used was wx astrocapture http://arnholm.org/astro/software/wxAstroCapture/
