Moon pix

I have a Kodak C340 camera I am using to get some shots of tonight's full moon - what comes out, though, is just a bright oval. I have used the "white-colored" filter in it and that makes little difference.

Any suggestions as to getting better detail. My ep is a 40mm, as I want to get as much in as possible.
