Hurricane Sandy...looks like a big one!

The NorthEast US is bracing for a big storm...my kids school has already closed for Monday/Tuesday. I think my family is battened down safe and snug.

New York has shut down all trains, buses and subways...

I had to head to the MidWest for a funeral so will miss the fun...I passed 100's of utility trucks headed toward the storm so at least if/when the power goes the crews should be on hand to fix it quickly

Hi Scott,

It certainly is looking like a big one. My brother-in-law flew into Boston yesterday
and has been reporting to us on the wet conditions.

Good to hear the family are battened down.

Hope you all get through this ok Scott

Not a lots of wind there, but I think these sort of cells are every bit of bad as the big ones ,mountains and mountains of rain , and the wind from nothing to a roaring gale every few seconds , god knows what all that cold air crashing into this as going to spin off the edges to .

stay safe !!

Stay safe Scott. I'm monitoring IRC chat channels from my colleagues over in US east coast and they're taking a beating. Lot's of network links & power outages, going down like flies...

Thanks all,

I am safe in the Heartland of Indiana but my wife and kids are weathering the storm at our house in Connecticut. They lost power a few hours ago and our whole town is currently without electricity. With the wind and rain set to peak tonight they are likely to be out of power for a while.

When I spoke to my wife she let me know they have a fire going in the fireplace and are doing okay. I also learned that she was heating pizza in a frying pan for dinner...gotta love that "frontier" spirit.

She did mention that it looked like a lot of trees were down in the area...fingers crossed.

I feel bad not being there but that could not be helped.
