For sale - Orion ED80 + WO 2" diagonal - SOLD

SOLD (both items)

Seeking expressions of interest as this scope is excess to my requirements now.

Orion ED80 incl. rings , purchased from, and collimated by Bintel a year ago for $699 + $45 for tube rings, yours complete with rings for $550 . (74% of new price)
I have removed the tripod mount block which gets in the way of the tube rings and recollimated it. If you want it back on let me know
(Yes I know clone scopes were available new at this price, but they were a short lived special and no longer available)

William Optics 2" refractor enhanced mirror diagonal, sell for $180 +ship

Both items are in excellent condition having been well looked after and come with all original boxes and packing.

The ed80 will have the remnants of double sided tape left used to mount the base of my rigel quickfinder. Im sure theres a way to get it off somehow.

First preference for the ed80 will go to buyers able to pick up from Melbourne SE suburbs, and I'll only sell the ed80 alone if I have a buyer for the WO diagonal already.

Thanks for looking

Hi Geoff,
The ED80 is on my buy list, but not needed urgently... However, I could be tempted if you don't find a more enthusiastic (or local) buyer in the next couple of weeks! PM me if you want to discuss.
Cheers

Hello
Just saw your ad for the Orion ED80 and WO diagonal.
What is your best price for both items purchased together and what part of Vic/Melb do you live in?
Regards
Bob

Hi Rob, Bob.

I live in SE Melbourne, not far from Dandenong.
I'm not in a hurry to sell, so I wont be making any price reductions. 75% of new price sounds fair to me considering both items are in great nick

Bob ill take another $20 off the diagonal if you buy both items, and nobody else wants the diagonal first.

hi geoff

i'm pretty interested, i only have 1.25 EP's, so i presume that i can purchase an adapter for the diagonal, now they tell me that William Optics are good stuff, is that right,

So if i committed it would be 710.00 plus pick up, the same price as Rob.

Just one more thing Geoff, iv'e also heard that the Orion ED80 dose a good job with astro-photography, is that true as well, ah, all these questions.

thanks Leon

Leon,

I will answer for Geoff.

The williams optic 2" diagonal already comes with the 1 1/4 adapter to take your eyepieces so nothing else to buy and secondly it the best scope in its class on price for astrophotography...nothing comes close to it at these prices.

Hi Leon,

Tony is right with all that he said, and it does come with a very nice 1.25 adapter with compression ring. The WO diagonals are regarded as very good quality at a reasonable price, and certainly better than generic ones.

There is plenty of information on the net about the WO diagonals, and the quality of the ed80 for astrophotography work, so you dont have to take my word for it

Yes Leon, $710 will buy it if you are willing to pick it up. I made the comment about first preference to those able to pick it up so I could avoid the hassles of shipping, as I find it hard to get to a post office during business hours.
