Still looking - alternatively - any big APO doublet would be considered

a Skywatcher BD120 or earlier gold tube would be fine
Orion 120 Equinox
WO Megrez 120
Vixen ED115
or even a Vixen NA140

Basically - I am after anything reasonably large, light (i.e. doublet) which I can use purely for visual astronomy and is a good step above an achro

Still hoping to find something in terms of a biggish refractor

I am completely open to suggestions - basically I am after any brand refractor that is either 100 or larger which will be light to carry (hence my idea for a doublet) and it will exclusively be used for visual astronomy (hence I don't need a triplet etc for AP purposes).

I would like something better than an achro but have I learnt of the Vixen/Orion Neo-Achros which sound fine too (even though ironically they are a 4 lens achro design).

I especially like any of the Vixen doublets.

If you have something you might consider selling please feel free to send me a PM

Thank you for taking the time to read my listing

One more try - anyone with a biggish refractor - I will consider anything - any brand, age or condition provided it is simply better than a traditional Achro

Not sure whether you noticed but there is a nice WO132 in the classifieds at the moment.

However - I note you are ideally after a doublet so this is only a suggestion

Thank you for the pointer - I am sure it is a brilliant telescope but I also suspect a little too weighty for what I am ideally after.

Still open to any suggestions in terms of a biggish refractor - prefer a doublet. Just a few ideas include

Saxon/Skywatcher ED120
Vixen 115 or any Vixen Neo Achro
Orion Equinox 120 etc
Meade 127

Just to clarify - when I mentioned the Meade 127 APO doublet in my lisiting - this is a reasonably old refractor which Meade produced before they moved into 127 triplets which they labelled (to my understanding) as their '5000' series. There are many incarnations of this same refractor variously rebadged as the NG127, ES127, Meade Series 5000 127, HiOptics127 etc

I am really after a big doublet such as a SW120, WO120, Orion Equinox 120, Vixen115 or anything akin to these or even bigger if my budget will allow.

I am completely open and welcome all suggestions/offers.

Thank you to all who have offerred advice and scopes thus far it is very much appreciated.

Thank you Lars - the pointer is much appreciated - I am not sure however whether it is still available but I will try and make contact.

However - if anyone has a large doublet refractor they might consider selling please send me a PM as I would prefer to buy local

Alas - no luck - still open to suggestions if anyone has a big refractor - prefer doublet and anything that is better than a traditional achro. For example

Skywatcher BD 120 (or gold tube predecessor)
Orion Equinox aka WO Megrez 120
Vixen ED115

These are just a few ideas off the top of my head but and I am open to suggestions

Looks like I am running out of options but one last try - if anyone has a big'ish refractor they might consider selling please send me a PM.

Basically I would be interested in anything over roughly 110mm, preferably a doublet and better than a standard achro. As a few ideas any of the following spring to mind but if you have something else I would certainly welcome the offer. Thank you for looking at my post

Skywatcher BD120 or earlier gold tube version
Orion 120 Equinox
WO Megrez 120
Vixen ED115
or even a Vixen NA140

It all depends on what particular refractor is on offer.

I am not simply after a budget scope so if someone offers something from a top tier brand (eg tak, televue Vixen etc) I am certainly willing to buy one of these as well provided the price is right

Main problem is it seems that everyone is too attached to their big doublets - whereas it seems like everyone has one of the various, generic mass produced ED127 triplets that they are quite happy to part with (i.e. sell)
