2009 International Year of Astronomy Scout Badge $5 each
2009 International Year of Astronomy Scout Badge $5 each, FREE POSTAGE
To celebrate 2009 International Year of Astronomy, a three-night astronomy program was organised by Scouts Queensland. Over 200 youth members took part and each received a specially made badge. The first night was held (in the rain) at the Queensland Scout Centre, the second at St John's Anglican College at Forest Lake, and the third was a field night in a Brisbane park. The program was well-received and contributed to the Cub Scout and Scout badgework linked to astronomy and space science.
Very few badges are available to collectors.
This badge is woven, 65mm x 68mm and depicts astronomers, a telescope, The Southern Cross and the Southern Cross and The Pointers, and The Scouts Australia logo. The badge also has the words :The Universe: Yours to Discover" and "International Year of Astronomy 2009".
