Lunar Mosaic

Hi all,

This is the first time I have tried stitching together a picture of The Moon. Made from 16 individual images. The full res version is 10,000 pixels wide. Not entirely happy with a couple of areas of it. I'll try this again another night (knowing what I do now) and if I get better results I'll upload a full high res version somewhere so that you can look at it in greater detail.

Cheers

That looks super sharp Greg. Very nice work. How did you stitch the whole thing?

Thank you very much Marc Stuck all the images in PTGui Pro and it just spat out this. I didn't need to manually align anything. Then just some slight contrast and sharpening in PS.

Thank you very much Matt Just need to setup the telescope more often instead of just grabbing my camera and tripod....

Thanks Mike I'm very happy with the stitching of the images, but there are a couple of blurry sections where the quality of the sub frame wasn't the best. The biggest issue I had was because I was using the EP instead of my normal prime focus with a MPCC I had massive coma around the edges of the frame due to the fast optics of my newt. This meant only the central portion of the field was in good "focus". I tried to allow for this while imaging but I must have missed a few spots. Much more evident at full size.

Very nicely done and I like the handling of dynamic range.
