Any experience of the Sigma APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM?

Title says it all. The reviews seem mostly positive but does anyone have personal experience with one?

The most noted things: 1970g is a fair bit of weight, and 96mm filters are like hens teeth (except for slot systems like Cokin Z Pro or Lee).

I use the Sigma 150-500mm. More than happy with its performance, better than expected after the reviews and sample shots I checked out. Bought mine from DWI much cheaper than available in Australia, took four days to arrive.

Sigma also make a 120-300 APO with image stabilisation and its F2.8!

It weighs 3kgs though and is $2000 or so.

But its cheap compared to its competitors.

Greg.
