Buying software on E-Bay

I decided I needed a legal version of Office, so I purchased what appeared to be a legal copy off E-Bay. When it arrived, all shrink wrapped, it looked the goods. Nice legal looking seal on the box and the same with the product key. I installed it, and it activated ok. Now WGA tells me it is not a legal copy of Office. On closer inspection of the DVD, the hologram is a sticker and not etched into the DVD, bloody mongrels. Luckily I paid for it with Paypal and will get my money back. I have to admit it looked very genuine in the packaging, these scumbags are bloody good at doing fakes. The advert on Ebay said the location was Australia, and one of the suburbs in Sydney. When I got the notification it had been posted with a tracking number, the number was EMS and of Chinese origination, so these wackers are operating out of China. So beware. Another thing that should have alerted me was the lack of feed back on the seller's ID, zero in fact. Since I have been stung, I have noticed these adverts popping up like mushrooms on Ebay, obviously very lucrative for them.

hmm... yeah very bad idea to buy software on eBay. That's one thing you want to buy legit from a reputable source whether it's the manufacturer's website or a local australian business. There are licensing issues with different regions. You're lucky you went through PayPal. Direct CC payment and you would have lost you money.

Buying any legitimate software on eBay is always a risky proposition.

It's just not worth the hassle of saving a few bucks.

The the other one that people on here get caught out by is buying "legit" verions of Photoshop on there.
