William Optics Swan ep's

1.25" 72 deg afov ep's 9/15/20mm $NZ120.00.

Not been able to find many reviews on these and the one I did find on CN was based on tests in an f6 refractor.

Anyone tried this range in a fast Newt.

From what I have seen on CN and other sources, these are not for fast scopes.

You don't know 'til you have a go, so I have ordered these ep's which should arrive in the next day or two. I will check them out and report my findings here.

I also have an f10 SCT so they will be fine with that even if they are not ok in the f5 newt.

I can always resell them and put the $ towards something with green letters on the side. It's only money.

Wise words indeed - I like your attitude!

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your comments, funny things eyepieces, the best eyepiece in the world is either the one you just sold, or the one you haven't bought yet.

Part of the enjoyment of astronomy for me is taking fairly ordinary gear and spending the cloudy nights wringing out of it, every ounce of performance that I can.

An example; recently I invested $200 in a new 80mm f5 refractor on an eq mount, a cheap and cheerful job off an auction site. Focuser was awful, diagonal was out of collimation, mount was lubed with glue, but the rest of it wasn't too bad 'for the money'.

Many cloudy nights later, (I can happily sit in the shed playing telescope for hours) I ended up with a serviceable rich field scope that I enjoy using.

A 'Tak' it aint but it will do me 'til I get a better one... or not. I am just happy to be out there doing it with whatever I currently have.
