AVI archiving results using WinZip - Yippeeee

Hello,

I hadn't realised how powerful a tool WinZip could be.

I just zipped up a 53Gb Jupiter Avi folder from 14th April and a 26Gb Jupiter Avi folder from 10th April and the resultant archives were 4.4Gb and 2Gb respectively.

This means I can now archive to an external USB drive and also burn to DVD which gives me a lot more live storage. It has only taken me to Version 10 to discover this……..

Cheers

Dennis

AVIs are movies made of bitmaps aren't they?

If so, then yeah they should compress (non-lossy) substantially.

But will you ever use the AVI's again? I used to archive AVI's but don't bother anymore unless they are truely spectactular.
Reality is I'd never use them again.
Cheers

I'm the same Robby...all my original raws or odd AVI's are deleted....I dont like looking backwards...if I want another image of the target because of better software or change of equipment or plain old more experience I will look forward to taken it again next year....otherwise the gigs just mount up never to be used.
