Some seafood (Lobster nebula)

Dear all, eventually I was able to post this image of the Lobster Nebula that was in the processing pipe for quite a while. It is a 20 hours HaOIIIRGB image of this nice object, neighbor of the Cat's Paw nebula (and we all know how cats love seafood ).

NGC6357

I have another famous crustacean on the pipe I hope to post soon, for the moment I hope you enjoy this antipasto

Excellent work as usual Marco. Surely one of the best NGC 6357 images ever.

Cheers

Awesome image Marco, you got the whole area in the FOV, nice!
I'm glad to see your Pismis24 stars are also golden, I did wonder about that earlier when processing my own version of this one. They are young O stars so should be blue, but there must be some intervening dust in front inducing this yellow hue.

Yes I believe that is the cause Rolf, I have mostly golden stars in my version from 2010 too, it pervades the entire region...bluudy dust ...where's Tom Davis

That's the beauty of remote imaging JJJ, the hard job is done by the camera and the mount, I just mixed the collected ingredients at the end Thanks JJJ

Thanks Rolf, I didn't check the color rendition of the cluster's stars, this is the balance I got with G2V over the image (and the great color balance routine of Pixinsight) so I suppose your consideration on dust is correct!

Thnaks again for the appreciations to averybody!

Clear skies

Very nice Marco. The blending of the two narrowband lines with the RGB is quite nice. Some really nice magenta views. The halos around the bright stars are similar to what I was getting earlier in the year. Which NB filters are you using?

Great saturation and a lovely field of view.

Hi Paul, thanks. I am using Astrodon 5nm for both Ha and OIII. LRGB are Baader (with Astrodon had unacceptable halos). Most of the halos are due to reflections between filters and the field flattener and filters and ccd surface. For the second there is no much to do, for the first the little distance in TEC scopes between the flattener rear lens and the filters (around 50 mm) is not helping in reducing this effect

The best example I have seen of this object. It normally is one of the more boring objects around being all red. So your deep widefield version has worked splendidly to get it in perspective and get some surrounding different colours going on.

You really have a mastery of colour in your images that are bright and vibrant and a wonderful array of different colours.

Greg.
