M8 Narrow band and broad band

Monday night I captured some more data on this current project. This is a 50% combine of narrowband and broadband data. So elements of all the colours can be seen within the image. The mapping is SII to red (SII 50% into red data) Ha to green (50% into green data) and OIII to blue (50% to blue data).

I am trying to go for that dreamy etheral look to the nebula, not sure if this works but overall I like the colours and transparency of the nebula.

Yeh, solid result Paul and the colours work ok for me. Not sure I'd bother with too much more exposure though as it's so bright it just doesn't call for it really...IMO...maybe an hour or so more..?

You are most likely right Mike. Saturday is most likely my next chance to image, maybe I will add just a bit more. Or maybe I will find something else to occupy my time with.

Yes Stephen it has been very wet this season but it cannot last much longer. I should be sorting out automation issues on clear nights but imaging is way more fun.

Thanks David, I think the hubble palette is the more pleasing of all the narrow band palettes. When combined with RGB data it takes on another look altogether.

a fine effort but the distraction for me is that the stars in the lagoon are tight and sharp, but they are overwhelmed by the stars on the outside, which appear harsh and a little bloated?

Martin, it takes a master to see where the faults are. Most likely this is a combination of the that final curves adjustment to create the bloat and my noise smoothing routine (because I don't have enough data ).

Not sure about where you are seeing harsh stars but I will take your word for it. Maybe a Sid coming up after I have more data.
