M33

I finally managed to capture my first half decent image of M33 while at QLD Astrofest. Imaged through the ED80 using the Canon 550D. 3hrs and 55min of 5 minute subs @ ISO800. Processed in CS3.
I've added an in yer face crop as well.

What a beauty
Does your ED80 have the standard focuser or did you up grade it?
Can't help but seeing the opening scene of Star Wars A new Hope a long, long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away run through my mind when i see nice Galaxy pics

Yes jjj,
you've managed to get the best out of the ED80 OK, as well as your processing, very well done.

Steve, it's just a stock standard ED80. No bells and whistles.
Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. I'm really quite happy with this one. I only wish I could have used my new camera during camp.

I thought we were all going to donate our M33 data for the big 40hr shot??
Are we still going to give that a go?

I don't have the software nor the skills to combine images from different sources. I think Bester said he'd give it a go. Shall we all clog his email with data now??

I can deliver my data personally along with a cable I borrowed from him.
This is my effort with colour data from Grady - a first rough process

Hi jjj,

That's nicely done!

It amazes me what you get out of the ED 80, must be a quality scope.

Cheers,

Justin.

The ED80 packs a hell of a punch for it's size.

Very nice image.

Can only dream about imaging M33 as I am from the deep south.
