Wiruna 17-18 August 2012

Hi all

I'm thinking of going up to Wiruna on the weekend of 17-18 August. This a somewhat momentous event (for me) as I have thus far only been to three 'major' star parties and never one of these 'minor' ones. Also, I think I am finally in control of the equipment rather than the other way around.

So, two questions:
  • Is anyone else likely to be there? Maybe I can put a face to name.
  • Any advice beyond the obvious stuff (bring scope, bring tent)?
Any feedback appreciated.

Hello Dave,

I will be there Wed thru Sat. Yes, you will need to bring tent and food. Kitchen with pots pans etc is available for cooking. Warm clothing is a really good idea as well. WRT scopes, yes, bring a scope/s, in addition there will usually be other telescopes set up where the owners will be happy to share eyepiece time with you. If you are planning on visual observing as opposed to imaging, you might want to thing about what objects you would like to oberve so you have some sort of basic observing plan. Can be interesting to compare views of an object in different scopes.

Cheers,
