Antares and Rho Ophiuchus
Hi
I managed to get to a dark site and do some imaging last weekend
Antares and Rho Ophiuchus is one of my favourite areas and the Canon 200 f2.8L and 5D are a good combination to capture this wide field
This setup was on a Takahashi EM10 mount
29 x 300 secs (guided)
800 iso
f4.0
thanks for looking

Hi Richard,
Great to see photos from you again after all your equipment woes.
A great widefield photo with excellent processing.
So sharp and a great depth of detail. The tentacles show so many dark tones.
Great colours and I love the composition and FOV.
The Canon5D and 200mmF2.8 lens are a great combination. The lens especially shows no CA that I can see.
Thanks for the view.
Ross.

thanks Louie, Ross, Greg and Marc
It was good to be able to get an image this time and I like the simplicity
of the EM10 and Canon set up, makes it easy
I do wish I could do a whole nights imaging WITH NO CLOUDS! though
thanks for your help and advice
Richard

Beautiful capture, Richard
Perhaps it's just individual taste, but it looks like you have some really great data there. I think there's a lot of dust and colours that you could bring out with more aggressive processing.

That 5D is really a major step up from my lowly EOS 1000D.
You have taken a great picture with it.

Very nice image Rick, also nice to see that this lens looks very good with almost no visible chromatism.

Great catch Richard, the FOV is framed really well.
Wiruna was a good night, and at least those pesky clouds cleared after 11pm.
My experience with Wiruna is that whenever it is cloudy at 10pm there is 50:50 chance it will clear after midnight. Even on the most dreary night with rain and cloud, I have been rewarded with those odds.

Thanks, I have a long way to go with processing and I tend to be a little conservative

Thanks, I think you can get as good results with the 1000D, take darks, flats and bias frames and get as much exposure as you can
cheers
