Help identify this nebula

Anyone know the name of this small Ha nebula? It sort of makes a triangle with Mimosa and the Jewel Box cluster and lies just inside the Coal Sack. Looks like a good target for long focal length scopes. My 440mm F/L ED80 is a bit short for it.

with your descitpion and the 2 images I searched for the nearest Objects that got labeled in Stellarium. ι crux.

With ι crux I went online and found the object eventually here:

I like this detective procedure a lot. Although: would be exciting NOT to be able to find a "name" for one..., wouldn't it?

If I ever get my mechanical irritations solved I'll take a pic with the 8" Newt

Being obscured by the Coalsack I have tried to image in near infrared but there was no improvement.

My favourite way of figuring out what I'm looking at is using Astrobin. plus its somewhere to host the image as well

Sledge hammers rule.
Astrometry.net gives me the image centre and dimensions.
From that Unimap tells me the object is at 12:50:22.636 -61:35:00.64 (the coords for the star in the middle - TYC8988-717-1)
From that Vizier tells me that the nebulosity is BBW 397 or RCW 71 (aka Gum 4) in the "Catalog of Star-Forming Regions in the Galaxy (Avedisova, 2002)"

Thanks for that. I've been out of the loop for a while so hopefully these tools will help. Up until now I've been using books, but they are biased toward the northern hemisphere.

I have one atlas book, too. find it useful because I am still a paper-thinking-girl, I guess. grabbing a book is still the first instinct

Kevin first bravo to you for going off the beaten track, neat images!
RCW71 is also known as GUM46 and H559 in Hartungs revised edition, an emission nebula heavily reddened by the Coal Sack. Hartungs notes that it can be seen in a 20cm.

Thanks Peter, I don't do much visual observing, but I'll have to try for it visually next time I have the 10 inch out.
