NGC6334 Narrow Band

More playing with the QSI683 last night - with the moon near full I decided to try my first attempt at some narrow band imaging. I went for the cats paw again so I can play with some Ha blending using my previous LRGB data.

This image is 1.5 hrs of Ha, and 1 hr each of OIII and SII (all 10 min subs) mapped as SIII (R), Ha (G), OIII (B).

The Ha data was a lot stronger than the other two so I'll probably try to get some more OIII and SII tonight.

I'm quite pleased with it as my first NB image.

Comments welcome.

Reckon that's pretty awesome. This NB is a whole other ballgame, hey. How did you end up blending them?

Hello, Peter

Well, that’s one of the larger “Cat’s Paws” images that I’ve seen – quite an impressive image scale. The detail in the top right “lobe” is quite tantalising – nice work Peter!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Troy. It certainly needs long exposures - probably a couple of hours per filter. I blended SII/Ha/OIII as RGB using PS and then used levels/curves to even up the histograms.

Thanks Dennis. That top right lobe has been the benchmark for me on this object - there is so much going on in that region. It is interesting to compare what is revealed in the NB vs LRGB image.

The top right lobe in the NB looks completely different to the top right lobe in the LRGB (they're mirrored)

Great capture Peter. Is there something going on on the right hand side of the image? looks like some light creep or other (Moon?). But a really great first NB and very sharp and detailed.
