Swan Nebula

Finally a clear night. Much better than Monday's effort which was an hour of setup followed by cloud cover just as I was about to start imaging.

My first attempt at the Swan Nebula. Also first post processing with a new tutorial which actually explains how to prevent rings and noise when deconvolution is applied in PI. I think I have some re-processing of old images to do

Camera: Nikon D800
Scope: Celestron C8 mounted on NEQ6
Guiding: Orion 50mm finder guider
Exposure: 2h25min @ 40sec subs (guiding sucked).

You've got some nice colours there. That's not easy to do with a DSLR - even a very good one!

Cheers,
Rick.

Nice colours and structure Chris. Looks like there might be some tilt in the bottom of the image but a lot better than I was getting when I was just starting out.

Thanks guys,

The image is a crop from the lower 2/3rds of the frame. The stars showed the same distortions at the top of the frame.
