CGEM computer control

I have new CGEM mount and want to control with computer.
Have XP machine with serial port, is older but works good.

What software is best to control mount for all astro things, alignment, DSO photography and solar?

I have ST2000XM camera and filter wheel and Nikon DSLR and Mallincam and C9.25 and ED80 telescopes.

I am happy to buy softwares or use free programs or use Linux or Windows.

You can make a cable for the CGEM, pinouts are on the skyfi site.

Not sure what most people are using to control a CGEM from a PC.

cgem control

You can use any ASCOM compliant software as there is a plug in for the CGEM - I personally have used The Sky X, Charts Du Ciel and Maxim DL.
For the SKY you use a Teleapi link which is in the manual or on line.
Maxim DL will control your mount/dome/filter wheel or cameras x 2 and also process the calibration frames and post process.
It's not cheap but it does what it says. It works well on my old Vista laptop.
CGEM in particular celestron nexstar or cge drivers are available.
I think the most glaring glitch that won't work with a CGEM is EQMOD etc.
The sky fi is supposed to work but I haven't tried it
cheers
