Anyone into RC cars?

I'm sure there are a few here..

I had a Tamiya Frog way back in the early 80's but it didn't last long, nor did I appreciate the mechanical complexities of this level of RC car at the time (also coin was in short supply back then)

I'm thinking of getting one again. Anyone in Melbourne can recommend a good shop to go to? Or better still, any online stores anyone can recommend?

I see online there are so many variations of bodies now (was looking at the Toyota Hilux). Can you buy a standard chassis/motor/mech and whack on most shells? or are the shells more 'chassis-specific'?

Used to race competitive back in the day(late 80's) with an Turbo Optima Mid SE, still have it.
I was no great threat but my mate won the aussie championship on many occasion and has represented Australia at the Tamiya Cup Worlds. Think he may even have won his class. Got an extremely rare Tamiya Team car as prize, only ten of them made apparently. It is still NIB, never to be opened.
A few of my friends still race, one of them recently got aussie champ again

Boy are you in for a treat with brushless motors and lipo/life batteries!
Your jaw will hit the floor when you see the pace these days. Too quick for me!

I still have 2 here somewhere (nitro and electric), any body in their scale seems to fit either as long as you trim to fit so I guess its still the same, I had a Commodore body and still have a Monaro body waiting for me to fix the nitro one after a high speed v gutter incident some time back

Dandenong hobbies is the best IMO, lol just leave your wife and wallet at home I use to race indoor electric which was way more fun then nitro, it was like small scale Tokyo drift haha. Theres a ton of clubs about and a quick google will point them out, go down and have a go before you buy and talk to the guys if you wanna race not just play
