Sunspot AR 1520 14th of july, projection method

Hi everyone

This is one massive Sunspot, a must see.Is visible to the naked eye(through safety specs) and it through out a x class flare on the 12th.

Sorry about the quality of the photo but since no one else is posting photos of this big beast I thought I might.

thanks for viewing
Orestis
Ps- for those further south expect to see some auroral activity.

Good effort !
I have been keeping an eye on this sunspot and had my first attempts at solar imaging. These were taken this morning. The main image was taken with a Canon 450D through an 8" SCT and the blurry image taken with a DMK21 camera with 500 frames stacked with the same scope.
It is one really active region. The main spots look like they are merging. Some serious release of energy if this happens.

Thanks for posting John, Amazing shots.

I wish I had a filter for my scope.

Solar activity is on the rise.

Great set up - I love the projection method - has been done for ages and still produces nice views for all to see!
I did get out early this arvo for a crack at it - here is my pic.
