Here's a few captures from today, and a bit of a colourisation experiment. I normally colourise using levels, but I've done a couple of versions using curves to colourise. Which do you prefer?

I had a few gremlins with the DMKs today so didn't capture as much as I would've liked. You will also note the full disc shot is not flat - its hot on one side. I checked alignment of the SM40 and wasn't able to solve it. Later on, I thought that maybe my tuner has been bumped and it needs retuning.... I'll try that next time.

Great images Al. The sun is really putting on a show, both in Ha and white light.

Not sure which images are which re your colourising techniques, but I prefer the last cf. the second to last.

Hmmm... I'll have a think about that. Both colourising layers are in the same .PSD file - I just turn one on and the other off. As it is ATM the curves would apply to the layers colourising layer... something to think about.

Here's my go at a blend, Dave. I tried a few different options and I think this is about the best... 80% opacity on Layers colourising layer (so the curves layer sees some of the original monochrome) and 40% on the curves colourising layer.

I like the colour in the last disc best ^.
It looks quite nice, details are pretty good!
I had a shot yesterday but captured a total of 4 AVI's so I have not processed a cracker!

The first one looks more like a sphere Al and isthe sort of look I aim for myself. Keep fiddling in that direction and you will have some absolute crackers.

I like the colour on this one the best, the others are a bit green looking (2nd last) or a bit too brownish and looks to me like tea rather than the Sun.

I struggle with getting that lovely golden-orange colour too. For my personal taste none of these are *quite* there, but the 'blend' is closest from a colour point of view.

But it is all personal taste at the end of the day.
