Midwest/Geraldton Group.

Having moved to Geraldton a few years ago and wanting to get back in to Astronomy I just wondering if there is any group/club in the Geradlton area and if not how many people here are from Geradlton and interested in getting together now and then?

Hi Ken,

Bill is up there somewhere, I think (Glenhuon), he's a reasonably friendly bloke - I knew him through the Bunbury mob when he was down there - but I don't know of any groups at the moment. I think I remember hearing of a couple of active people up there but that may have been 10 years ago!

Hi jacquie, I am meeting up Bill (Glenhuon) soon and hopefully a couple of other people and see if we can organize a small group here.

I see in the news today an astronomy club in Geraldton has become newly encorporated... Congrats to them and hope it proves fruitful, seems to be a tidy little group of amateurs up there ..

Thanks Roger,

I formed the group about a year ago and we have become quite active doing public sessions, school events, interviews in paper and on radio and even recently interest from TV. Got heaps of stuff happening for science week here too which is getting great promotion.

Now that we have become incorporated we are certainly stepping it up. Our main end goal at the moment is looking to build a observatory, planetarium and interpretative centre for the SKA which will certainly be a great thing for everyone in the Midwest and WA.

Having out first AGM this Sat and with lots of interest as of late we're hoping we can get lots of new members, the sausage sizzle and bar open after the meeting might help

Cheers,

Ken

Good luck!
I've Liked your facebook page so I can keep up with developments. I never know when I'm going to get asked about what's going on in WA so I like to keep in the loop.
