SBIG cameras - changes?

Hi all,

I haven't been paying as much attention to the astronomy world recently. Did I miss some news?...

It looks like SBIG doesn't mention the "ST" series on their website any more (ST7/8/9/10/2000) - am I blind and not seeing the link or have they discontinued them?

I'm guessing if they have discontinued them then the "STT" is the replacement, but that range only uses the one chip (8300) at this stage ?

Roger.

The new management has decided to discontinue all legacy ST cameras (and most of their accessories)

The only ST (integrated self guide chip in the camera head) on offer now is the ST-X

However new self-guide filter wheels (they only work with SBIG camera heads) have effectively the same optical system as the (new) wide field OAG. They deliver a wider, independently adjustable focal plane to the imaging sensor, with pixel sized guide stars. In short, faster sub-pixel guiding.

Thanks for the clarification Peter.

I think it would have been nice if SBIG posted a news article saying as much, but no biggie

Wish things would move quicker, the wait is intolerable for the new STT, need the reviews/ beta tester inputs and more news on possible chip sizes.

Great look forward to the reviews filtering through, if they had a KAI-4022 equivalent i'd be putting in my order....SBIG are back with a vengeance it seems, pricing looks good to compared with the other players.
