Snow this afternoon

Weather was pretty miserable here this morning so I watched MotoGP that I recorded last night while we were out for dinner. The forecast yesterday was for the weather to clear today... well it cleared long enough for me to get out for a 1/2 hour play on the trials bike before this.

It's stopped falling again for now. Fingers crossed we'll get some more!

Al.

Looks great Al Looking forward to getting down to my place if we get a decent dump there too. Down to 700m I've heard, so I should have heaps. There's nothing more relaxing than a dump of snow - the absolute quietness because of the total lack of reflected sound. Snow, a raging fire and mug of gluwein.... Yummy....

It must be a bit of a novelty Al getting snow. We sometimes get snow on Mt Lofty here in SA but it is quite rare. The air column must get colder as it travels over the continent. We have had the coldest June in 7 years and it has been the wettest in 15 years. Roll on Maunder minimum.

I reckon there'll be snow as far north as Stanthorpe this week.

Nice pics Al. I love the snow. But only to visit.

You guys need to make the effort to see it. My mum was 74 when she came to visit us and saw snow in person for the first time! Priceless! She was running around outside trying to catch snowflakes on her tongue... Some of the locals who've lived in it all their lives find it a drag, but I've only been here 26 years and the novelty hasn't worn off for me yet.

Oberon is just west of Sydney on the Great Dividing Range, in fact the crest of the GDR is only a few ks east of my place.

Yep I've got the trail cam working. Been experimenting with it as a security camera to see who visits our place while we are out (also see what our dog gets up to!).

Its always a bit of a novelty. We don't get as many snowfalls here as we used to, but I find its always a bit exciting and fun!

Great shots, Al! I spent a year and a half living/snowboarding in Salt Lake City, Utah and especially loved the days of heavy falls.

Worth taking a little drive to Toowoomba next time they get some. (I know that doesn't happen often but its happened at least once in my life time!)

Looks nice and chilly Al! I love the snow! Ever since I saw snow for the first time in March in Tassy, I have been hooked and constantly checking out the snowy weather and wishing I were there! If only it would snow in Brissy

That's nice and cold Al, I thought it was going to happen here as well at one stage. Yesterday max out here was only 7.9ºc.

Cheers

mmmm... imagine the snow here if it could snow in Brissy! I've always wanted about a metre of snow in Oberon to make closing the roads worthwhile.

5.7°C the corresponding max here, but my weather station graphs tell me it was 2°C or below while it was snowing.

Looks like a wonderful winter wonderland. Be nice to have that for just one day in the middle of summer I reckon.

No, not snowing any more.

Snow would be a serious shock to the system in summer! Although they apparently have some speccy indoor snowfields in Dubai, I think. That'd be the way to do it.
