NGC 6188 with 5DH and 10 inch scope

Hi all
Another beautiful night last night so went after NGC 6188 with the 10 inch f5.6 newtonian and 5DH from Bert.
14x10 mins ISO400. MPCC coma corrector and LPS filter. temp was about 10 degrees, yet fairly dry.

A few little cosmetic hot or dark pixels, oddly enough they appeared only on the first sub, much fainter on the 2nd then almost gone from the rest. Processed in IRIS, which is good software especially as its free but it doesnt do well at removing hot pixels so I ise Photoshop to remove them manually. Same applies for my 350D camera.

Never before has my 10 inch scope gone so deep over such a wide field. I cant wait to get the 5DH onto M42, or even image 2 planetaries in the one frame.

Looking clear for tonight too. I love these short days where it gets dark by 6pm. Dont know how long the clear weather will last so will do as much imaging with the 5DH as I can.

It just keeps getting better hey Scott!

From my measurements the 5DH takes about thirty minutes to reach equilibrium due to the sensor heating with constant exposures. This results in the first couple of frames having holes as the master dark subtracts too much.

It is the same if taking a set of darks, do not use the first three unless the camera has been exposing.

The larger sensor actually gets to about 17C above ambient with continuous exposures. Even then the signal to noise is still impressive.

Your 10 inch mirror is really showing it's quality now Scott. A fine image of a very dim object. The dark dust has texture. The stars are very good to the corners as well.

Yep Richard it is a modded camera, and being a full size sensor the pixel size is a little larger then usual, making the chip more sensitive.

When this wet weather clears I wont let the moon stop me I plan to use nebula filters to keep on imaging
