Talking Jen's Big Day Out - T.O.V. in local paper

ONCE IN A LIFETIME
I made it on page 2

Wow what a day that was I LOVED IT
I have always wanted to go out to the Lake Boga Observatory and i thought this was a good opportunity to do so So i rang them up and asked them if i could join them for the day, he was all concerned on the phone and said do you have proper equipment to do this (i sad hell yes)
So it was a date
I packed up all my gear and got out there just after 7 and i think he had a shock at what equipment i had (he said wow you are keen)
All he had was a solar scope i had 2 scopes and lots of eclipse glasses (which were a huge hit) thanks Bintel for last minute transaction
I parked my gear away from John as i didnt want to interfere with the school groups that he had come through but it wasnt long before i ended up taking over the whole show and John was very happy that i was there to help out and he brought his solar scope up next to me so we had the glasses the solar scope my 6inch newt and i had the dob running live view through the laptop we had quite a few schools come through and lots of driver byes popped in to have a look it was fantastic. I was on such a high and flat out all day that i didnt even have time to have brekky or lunch I was hoping to get my first timelaspe happening but Johnny wouldnt come to the party at the start so i missed the first half an hour i just realised that synscan does not have the sun to align the scope We were on ABC radio at 3:00pm i think it put Lake Boga on the map hahahah
Then when i seen my article in the paper i was so excited but i didnt have a picture of the transit to her in time as after such a long day i was very sunburnt ooops which gave me a rotten headache so looking at over 500 pics to process i was seeing spots everywhere hahaha so she will post my pic later on in the week yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Bring on the Solar Eclipse in November
I was so happy to be able to get my astro geek on for the day big time even though in the article she called us astrologers

Well done Jen.

When you asked about finding the Sun, I meant it when I said, just Goto Venus.

Oh and i forgot to mention a big thank you to the wonderful IIS members VonTom and Malcolm for helping me make this day happen
If you look at my finderscope closely i made a solar filter out of a stubby holder to fit on the end of it I couldnt get any australian than that buahahahaha Now if it was an IIS stubby holder Mike (hint hint) that could have been good advertising for IIS

Well Done Jen, Glad you had a ball! Nice Article too! I have fond memories of my visit to the observatory about 3 years ago. Last I heard, It was up for sale, I'm assuming that it isn't anymore??

Good work Jen !

But you never can believe what you read in the papers...
Apart from the "astrologer" slip, the other fractured fact ...

now that would be impressive
